The new normal means parents must be proactive.

In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, the world of education has been turned upside down, and our young people are falling behind as a result. Public and private schools are struggling to find answers, and as they attempt to right the ship, parents are turning to online solutions for their children. Nowhere is this issue more apparent than in students’ access to quality writing instruction.

Writing proficiency has been a problem even in the best of times. According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, “only about one-quarter of students grade 8 through 12 perform at the proficient level in writing.” And the National Report card shows that “only 1 percent of all 12th graders nationwide could write a sophisticated, well-organized essay.” And it’s a problem that will only get worse in our current environment.

The Foundation EDU Writing Bootcamps are intensive, two-week courses that give your child a decided edge in these uncertain times. Students are placed in small, very-personalized, classroom settings where the very best teachers in the nation guide them through a rigorous writing curriculum that emphasizes structure, practice, feedback, and revision. They’ll receive the kind of guidance and attention that they could never hope to receive from an overwhelmed classroom teacher attending to the needs of 150 students or more. In short order, they’ll develop the requisite skills to succeed in high school, college, and their careers. We offer both middle school and high school workshops.
